The role


Anaesthetic Technician


As the Anaesthetic Technician you will be reporting to the Perioperative Services Manager and the Anaesthetic Clinical Nurse and will be responsible for providing support as the first assistant to the Anaesthetist.   You will be planning and participating in total patient care during the patient’s perioperative experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and plan for the operating list such as setting up the equipment and medication
  • Check the equipment functioning correctly to include running the anaesthetic machine through the daily check, and troubleshoot any equipment issues
  • Assist the Anaesthetist with a high level of situational awareness
  • Assist competently with difficult intubation/rapid sequence and complex anaesthetics
  • Ensure the patient is safely positioned for specialised surgery
  • Clean and decontaminate equipment appropriately between surgeries and at the end of the list


About you


To be successful in the role of Anaesthetic Technician, you will have:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent abilities in assisting with anaesthetics
  • Current working knowledge of standards of practice relevant to patient positioning
  • Well developed organisational and time management skills
